As Seniors, we are all pretty much in the same boat right now. Confined to our homes because of our age and/or physical susceptibilities to the Covid- 19 virus. For some of us it is not to difficult a thing to weather through, we have our smart phones, I Pads, computers, books, hobbies, Kindles (more books), our husbands and wives. Now for us, if our coffee doesn't run out we will be ok. Like a holiday but without the inconvenience of travel!
However, there are many seniors that do not have or do not feel comfortable using all the modern (so called) conveniences of life. They do not know how to use all the "wonder-equipment" that the rest of us take for granted. I know of one person who has 125 channels on their cable but they keep their TV on one station because they changed the input on two occasions and as a result they had no TV. Which brings me to my current thoughts. What can we do as seniors to maintain what we all so desperately need during times like these, human contact? Pick up the phone and make a phone call to the people you love. 1. Call your children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and friends to see how they are and to tell them you love them. 2. Pray for them on the phone and pray for their needs. 3. Share an encouraging verse of scripture from the Bible. 4. Don't wait for others to call you, call them! 5 Remember: God loves us! “And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:38–39, NLT)
